[0:01] Are you ready to explore what's next for you?
[0:05] It may not be what you're expecting, but if you want to find out, keep listening. Welcome back to another episode of the Inspirational Soul Podcast, and today we are going to look at one of the biggest questions I get asked in all time. And that question is, what's next?
[0:30] It's an interesting question, and it's one that I do get asked, way more than most of you who are listening will probably realize, but you are, you know, are you aware of how many times you might be asking yourself, this question?
[0:51] Hmm. So, we're just going to take a moment and come along on this journey with me, and you might just see, you might just find out where you are sitting with things, and what might be next for you. So, let's jump into it. But first, we're going to have a look at it and have a look at exactly how this plays out in our life. Just follow me here for a second. You finish year 12. Someone then asks you, oh, so what do you study? You go to uni. So, you then finish uni. You get the degree oh so when are you going to get a job are you going to start the career, then you get the job and it's like well when are you going to get promoted or what's what's the pathway you know then eventually you get promoted and someone might say oh you're really good at this why don't you start your own business when are you going to start your own business, then you start your own business and then you start that and then someone's like oh when are you scaling, you know and then obviously on a more regular basis you might go you come back from a holiday and then you know he's like oh where are you going next, if you're on the social media you hit 100 000 followers and then he's like oh when are you going to get to a million.
[2:10] It's like this one's been floating around a little bit too because i've had a few people around me do this they retire and then like the question is so what are you going to do now it's the.
[2:24] On the other side of the spectrum, you have one child. Oh, when's number two? You buy a house. Oh, when's the investment property coming along? And it's more something on an everyday level. You finish a series on Netflix. Right. What are we watching next? You know, you can start to see how much and how quickly it all starts to compound. And even just through that little list and like looking at life journeys, it's almost like we're never allowed to just reach and arrive somewhere. Like as soon as we get there, we're moving on. We're leaning forward. We're going to chase the next thing. And it's a lot and it happens a lot. And then it happens in the everyday circumstances and again it was beautiful because just being aware of this when I was in Darwin.
[3:28] And working with the lovely ladies I had the group there and you know we had two beautiful awesome days together and we're working through the energy and it's always a interesting thing when people come and start facilitating this because, the beautiful thing is like a lot of people are on the edge and what i mean by that is like, on the edge of understanding on the edge of belief because there's something there's something in them there's something in their mind, that attracts them you know to this world and i just don't call it the spirit world anymore i call it the energetics because, it that's really what it is and that's what connects us all together. So there's something there where people, you know, it drives them. So they might find themselves, you know, at a mini retreat or a workshop and running like these particular ladies did. Something...
[4:21] Something in them was calling them to something more, to something higher. And so, it was a beautiful thing. And obviously, as I go through this, one of the first things that I love to do and I take people through, which is just magic, it really, really is magic, is I take people through actually experiencing, and working with the perception of energy and working with energy, knowing that they can work with energy and so this particular group they're amazing i've never seen a group actually lock in embody and get it so quick and so much like these ladies did it was amazing to watch it was really amazing to watch, be a part of and like when you see them light up, and go yeah wow like oh my god i can do this i can actually do this i'm like like it's there it's for everyone and so it's nice to have that then it's interesting too because then all of a sudden, you get a little bit more comfortable with yourself. You start to settle a little bit more into your own skin. Then all of a sudden, with the people that are around you, you're getting a little bit more comfortable and a bit more trusting with them. And so, different conversations start to pop up and you start to explore different ideas. Now, this was a very small group, which was beautiful because in small groups, conversations really come out. We've got a bit more time to explore. Different conversations.
[5:47] And this is in halfway, partway through day two.
[5:53] And now that I look back on it, I don't 100% recall how we got there, but there was a question about Akashic Records.
[6:03] And we've got to understand, like I always say to people, when you're delving into this world, it's like a three-dimensional spider web. And when you touch a web like one little like anchor point of that web one little line it reverberates and it then all of a sudden you see how everything connects to one another and there's multiple, directions multiple anchor points and you start going, this is bigger than i thought and this is what happens when these conversations come out and so we literally touched the the line and that little boom, like, you know, of Akashic Records. And in all honesty, it actually really had no immediate bearing on the content and what we're kind of working through, but it just came up. So, of course, we work with it. And so, we're having this beautiful conversation about Akashic Records. And for anyone who's not 100% in the know, we just call it like the depository of knowledge. It exists in the other dimension. It exists like what do you want to call it the soul world the spirit world energetic world and it holds all the knowledge and it holds all the knowledge of ourselves and you know our soul our lessons all that kind of stuff, and yes you can go and visit this place and access information i have done it a few times.
[7:28] Anyway so we're just quickly talking about this and then of course I explained, just like I explained to you right now, and then came the question, oh, Pete, how do we do that?
[7:42] I was like, ah, it is like, okay. And that's the whole thing of like, oh, we're doing this. Oh, that sounds exciting. What's next? How do we do that? So, of course, I just like leaned into it. I said, oh, well, if you want to do something like that, I actually do have a meditation for that in my meditations library. Then, of course, a couple of days, oh, you have a meditation library? Where's that? And I'm just like, all of a sudden, it's like, oh, okay. And this is one of those moments where I love helping people. And so, I was like, well, I'll just quickly show you. Like, this is the meditation library that I have. I've been building it for a number of years.
[8:29] And then they see the list and it's like, oh, if I ever did that meditation, what's a good one after that? And I'm thinking, I love the curiosity. I love the excitement that they're all sharing. But I'm like, wow, we've already now like four or five steps down the line and we haven't even finished our workshop. I love the enthusiasm, but a part of me is like, I always have this part of me that says, okay, take a breath. I really need to be a good teacher right now and say, yes, that's good. But hey, let's focus on what we've got in front of us. And then because as we're doing this and I'm showing them and it's beautiful because they're going, oh, what else is there? And it's like, honestly, my head's like, oh, boy, I'm trying to focus on one thing, trying to lead and get to a certain point. And now we open up on everything. And then it's like, I start going, I do warn people. I literally do because I say, are you sure you want to know?
[9:39] Do you really want to start exploring this? Because number one is in the background here of what I've got. There is 20 plus years of knowledge gathering and experience all documented and placed into one convenient space. Are you sure you want to know? Because here's what's going to happen.
[10:05] Once you know some of these things, you can't unknow it. Once you see and experience some of these things, you can't unexperience it. And I've had a few people over the years going, oh my God, Pete, like now that you've told me to see it this way and I've understood it, I can't not see it that way. And this happens. And then I see someone else, I said, I warned you. Like, this is what happens when you decide to genuinely open yourself up to your world. I'm never, ever teaching people what to see or what to experience. I only ever guide and facilitate. There's that beautiful quote, I'm going to binge in the front of my book, Searching Spirit. And some of you probably just skipped over it and I'm realizing, but it's actually a very important one. And it literally says, you know, a good teacher will tell the student where to look, but not what to see.
[11:08] And I love that because it's so true because, again, this is a very, you know, every time someone jumps into this and jumps into my world a little bit, it's like, well, you're going to have to follow the spider web in your own direction, your own way. It's all there. Every single person, it could even be you, if you jump into my world, I'm not going to like hold your hand every aspect going down because it's a big spider web and it goes in multiple directions and angles. like I said. So, the whole thing is then you've got to start following what's right for you. And then as you go along, yeah, I can help you as you go along. But the whole thing is you've got to start to lean into and explore it for yourself. So, that's why I always say, are you sure you want to know because this is what's going to happen? So, we go through that and we're looking at all of this. And I love it. It's one of those things that comes up and it's so true because They literally did say, oh, I didn't know this was here. I didn't know you had this. And I'm like, a lot of people don't because there is actually a lot there. And so, it's always a little tricky to pinpoint people to exactly what they need at the time.
[12:24] But it's just interesting because this experience in Darwin made me realize, because I heard it. It was like, oh, so after we finish this weekend, what's next? And the beautiful thing is I could get ahead of them on that question at this particular workshop because I've heard it over and over again.
[12:47] So, and I'm just going to take you back just to give you this, right? So, you know, I look at the first time I asked myself, what's next, you know, was after my own readings that I had when I was a teenager because like you take some of that or you learn something new and then you go, okay, what's next? I was asking myself, I was in that position of continually looking for that next thing or, you know, wanting to know more. Then it shifted. And where it shifted, it shifted in my journey. So it shifted obviously when I stopped working.
[13:25] Becoming the full-time gatherer, student, and just taking on the information and practicing passively. It changed, again, obviously, when I started to shift a little bit. You will never stop learning. Don't please. You always are going to be a student. But then there's a part where you start learning more by actually experiencing, by actually doing it and facilitating rather than just being a passive student. So, I started to see this change. And so, even when I started working as a reader and psychic medium and whatnot.
[14:06] It prompted me like I'd sometimes see the healing take place in real time, immediately at the point. Other times, you know, you might see a client and they're, yeah, okay, I get that, okay. And so, there's this little bit of, well, I can only give you what I can give you kind of moment. So, therefore, sometimes it might take a couple of days or a week before all the information falls into place. So, when I'd have those kind of sessions and when I was kind of going through that over and over again, And, you know, I constantly ask myself, well, what's next? I've done that. I've read for them. I'm in that energy. What's next? Is that it? And of course not, you know, but when that happens, when is it? What is it? You know, so I really get curious and I've always been curious. And I think that's a beautiful thing. Curiosity is huge. The more curiosity you have in this world, I explore this world, the better off you are going to be.
[15:10] And what I started to realize is I found that, you know, people, after the beautiful moments and connections, sometimes there was a wanting for more.
[15:25] Even though we've just had this beautiful moment, this beautiful connection, but there was a wanting for more. And I was like, you know, I'm there as the, facilitator. I'm going, well, but more of what? And I was like, I don't know. And it could be, you know, I'm wanting a more of a connection to hold the connection for longer because of grief. Yeah, maybe that's the case. Maybe that was the wanting of more. But then I had to start looking at my side of it, and I started going, but if I keep facilitating this connection to this particular loved one, then am I somehow prolonging or interfering in the healing process? Maybe. I could be assisting it. I don't know. But this is the gray area, you see. But I do know in some cases, I could see dependency happening on what's the next message or what's the next guidance. So, there becomes a dependency and dependency has a very, very different energy to it.
[16:45] I'd see this not just in that. I know that when I first really started experimenting, I would practice palmistry. Like I said, I've always been curious. I learn lots of different things. Palmistry, I've learned a little bits and pieces about.
[16:58] Of course, people get curious about themselves.
[17:02] Who wouldn't say, oh, can you read my palm? How many times I've heard that as soon as it comes out? Oh, and then you're talking to one person about their palm, and then there's 15 people lining up wanting to hear about, oh, can you read mine? Can you check mine? Can you do this? And it's a beautiful thing, but you're going, oh, okay. I was happy to help one person. Now it's turning into 15.
[17:27] So, but you know, it's interesting, even in that instance, I would tell them something about themselves, but then they would ask, oh, but what does that really mean? Or it might be a question of, how does that affect me? And it's interesting. So, rather than like listening to the process and the information, it becomes like, oh, what piece of information is next and so on and so on and so on. And it was really interesting like because i started to realize the pattern and again this actually came up in the darwin event i had up there it was a beautiful question someone said oh, ask about the one-on-ones and like i said just reflecting here and i said to this person in the crowd i said, like i have a mission because i've been sitting with this and i've been reflecting on it, and i said i love helping camera it's a beautiful process i said but there's more, there's genuinely more and i said i want to help more because me being one person trying to help one person at a time while it does help and it is beautiful i believe it can be done more i also believe we can empower people more, i said so where i'm looking at now and what i have is you know i said i was giving people a fish, that whole proverb of like you know give a man a fish he'll eat for a day teach a man how to fish he'll eat for a lifetime you know that kind of thing that's why i was like that's what i'm leaning to.
[18:55] But even as i look upon that and reflect upon that, then that's where it got really interesting because i was thinking about this, and it's like i've built an entire career, around asking what's next i really have like okay mediumship cool connection beautiful healing family leaves my first thought so okay who's next, Who's next into my door? Who's next sitting in front of me? What's the next event? What's happening tomorrow? What's next? Palm readings, amazing session, beautiful information, great insights, some inspiration, but it dies. Oh, so what's next? You know, it's like then I start looking at, you know, what I'm building and how I want to do it. Like, you know, next year at the time of this recording, like creating a beautiful new format and event called Connection Live. And because that was leading from what was next at Unlocking Connection Live. And I was like, well, once I work with people in Connection Live, what's next? So, then I came up with Soul Reboot Retreat, didn't I? Because people were asking, people, I love this. How do I work with you? So, it was what's next? So, I had Soul Reboot mini retreat. Then people at the Soul Reboot mini retreat, we do two or three days together and we come to the end. It's like, oh, this is lovely. I love this so much. So, what's next?
[20:24] So, I was like, you know, over time, I'm like, I get this question asked of me a lot. And then it's like, so, well, okay, soul connections, yearly mentoring, Fiji retreat, integration, let's do that. And even at the end of that particular 12 months and a beautiful, amazing group of souls, you know, it happened literally in Fiji this year. So, Pete, what's next?
[20:50] It's just like, okay. So then it was, I knew it was coming. And I was like, glad my little spidey senses picked up on it. But what was next? And so I said, I've been sitting with this and I need to talk to you. I'm trying to put this together. So then guess what? Connection continuum. This is the full life integration space. This is where we just constantly chip away and work at a higher level, you know, and it's beautiful. But then, like, I had, like, your situations of, like, well, I'm not really wanting to do that. Then what other way do I go? What's next? It's like, okay.
[21:28] And then Connection Circle was born, you know, the place to stay connected with like-minded people so you never feel like you're alone, you know. And then even, you know, people in that group, which are lovely because we're connecting, we're talking, having conversations, and they're like, okay, we've talked about that. What's next? And it's like, okay, let's do meditations. Let's do some journeys. What's next? As you can see, it just keeps happening. It keeps happening. And it's like, it makes you stop and reflect, I've basically built an entire business because apparently I can't let people leave. Once you're with me, you stay with me. No, but it seems like, you know, well, you can almost look at it and go, you know, I don't have a business model. Maybe perhaps I've got abandonment issues. You know, it just makes you think, you start to realize like, what's next? What's next? How much I have been building. And, you know, I've been building this like over 10 years on a professional level and, you know, 20 plus years on a personal experiential level. And it's really interesting. So, I realized I haven't been and I wasn't creating like random programs. I was just simply answering the same question.
[22:49] Over and over and over again, not a bad thing it's something that drives me because i always like okay how do i help people because i love helping people i love people getting to that next level of inspiration next level of understanding next level of embodiment next level of connection next level of you know really feeling, more connected to themselves beautiful things and And it's all based around that question. And then you start to realise, wow, how ridiculous sometimes this question can make us.
[23:31] Just imagine here, if we take this question of what's next, because how often do we truly ask it of ourselves? It's there. We may not say it out loud, but it's there. Imagine if we asked it completely in appropriate times. Like, imagine if a restaurant worked like this, like, oh, I have been with my business. Like, so how was dinner? Oh, beautiful. So what's next? I can I taste this you know, dish first before we move on you know you could imagine a wedding like you know in a situation I've got a lovely, good dear friend of mine getting married on the weekend you know it's okay it's like oh I now pronounce your husband and wife and the bride's like so what's next where are we going what are we doing, you're gonna have in this one how many times because, again, that friend of mine who's getting married got babies in around her. It was just interesting hearing it. It's like a woman gives birth and maybe the midwife's like, oh, so what's next? You're going to try for the boy? Oh, have you thought about school catchments yet? And you can see the absolute ludicrous of it. But the truth is, as much as they might sound ludicrous, this actually does happen. These thoughts in this way does actually happen.
[24:56] So, this is where we've got to pull it right back. You've got to ask yourself, have you ever been the person asking what's next? Now, I'm going to clarify this.
[25:12] So, when you're asking what's next of someone, we can ask what's next to someone because we genuinely care. Like, you know, like, oh, they're going through something. It's okay. So, you know, what's going to be next for you? So, that's a beautiful and has its place and I think it's important because a lot of time we need encouragement, we need inspiration. So, it's a beautiful way. But let's just take a moment like not in that situation. How many times have you asked or have you been asked, not because of the caring factor, but because the silence about the topic was uncomfortable?
[25:58] Now that's an interesting one, because sometimes we ask what's next because we don't know how to simply, celebrate someone or the moment that they're in you know instead of saying hey i'm really proud of you, you know, or in a meaningful way, you could say, hey, well done or congratulations. Sometimes we just jump to, oh, okay, cool. So what's next? You know, and it's just interesting to just stop, pause and think about that for a moment.
[26:39] Because, you know, again, zooming out, this is a greater observation that I'm starting to see and pay attention to. And I hate to say it, I'm also part of the problem, but that's the world we live in. And one of the problems there is the social media trap. So, this is why I love podcasting, because podcasting gives time for reflection. If you're doing what's called longer content listening like for me i feel like i'm actually learning something i've got time to process i've got time to see how i fit in, however if you're straight onto the social media side of things you know you think about it the behavior the way it happens we scroll.
[27:24] You get engaged you might post you might not you might just like or love heart, and then you're scrolling on to the next post. Oh, you see a baby. You smile. Oh, that's cute. Okay. Next post. Then all of a sudden, you're watching some bloody kitten or puppy video. Oh, my God, I love that so much. And you have that moment. You scroll on. Next post. And all of a sudden, this is about a business launch. Oh, that's interesting. Oh, I never thought about that. But then you have that moment. Then you scroll on. Next post. Oh, there's someone. Someone's getting your house. Next post, oh, there's someone on their perfect European holiday on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. You know, then the next post is like, oh, you know, there's your friend doing the Gold Coast Marathon and they're in there and raving their hands around and got the medal on there. You know, good on them. But then next post, then you watch someone having an ice bath.
[28:24] And all of a sudden, you think about just that list. Genuinely, think about that. That list, that's a genuine list. We can literally go through a list like that in less than five minutes on our social media. And, you know, do you ever start to feel when you're scrolling like that, that you're behind? Or in some way, you're not good enough?
[28:50] Or in some way that you need to catch up or you should be doing more? Right? It's amazing how those feelings will come up, but when really all you're doing is comparing yourself to, six or seven different people highlight reels, which they probably did frigging months ago, and they've only got around to editing it to get here. But you can start to see how this feeds us, how even the current way that we're taking on and being delivered information, is feeding us to, you know, oh, I'm behind. This is not right. What's next? I need to keep moving forward. And you can start to see what happens here. So, this is what brings me to the question.
[29:39] And this is what's next for you. But it's not about what's next for you. And as you can see here, the whole thing about what's next is you've got to slow yourself down. And I want you to do that right now. I want you just to slow down right now, and ask yourself this question instead.
[30:00] When was the last time you let something be enough? Like not forever, but just for today. Maybe for the weekend. Whatever it is, just enough for today. And then if we can do that, and if you can ask yourself that question on a more regular basis, maybe just maybe our obsession, isn't actually with the next thing we'll start to realize maybe it's because we're struggling to stay with the current thing, we're always leaning forward very rarely are we sitting inside the moment and sitting with what's just happened. Sometimes nothing needs to happen next.
[31:02] Sometimes the experience itself is enough. And that's what I'd like you to lean into. Have a look at the experiences. Reflect on the experiences that you're having. Have a look at the experiences this week, whether it's a conversation, it could be a podcast that you're listening to, whatever it may be, just take and realize what's been enough. And that might pull you back and it might make you start to realize that, hey, you are more than enough and hey, you've got this and you're doing a bloody good job at it. So, keep going.
[31:41] So, anyway, as always, I appreciate your company and I appreciate your time here on this episode and of course you can tune into the next episode to find out what's next have a good one.
